The UNSA Project Committee was founded in order to cover also the humanitarian and developmental segment of the United Nations’ activities. Its purpose is to actively promote and support the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). In that sense, the Project Committee established contacts to local NGOs in developing countries to supports them by organizing fundraising activities and by sending students there to conduct volunteer work. We are proud to announce that last summer alone more than twenty students from Maastricht University went abroad to volunteer in countries, such as India, Nepal, Madagascar, Philippines, and more.
The Project Committee is composed of three different sub- committees, namely the Networking Team, the Preparation Team and the Fundraising and Charity Team. The Networking Team, chaired by Constanze Mueller, is composed of motivated students, who are in constant contact with our NGOs. Their task is to receive regular updates about the development of our partner NGOs and to keep them informed about what is happening in Maastricht.
We are very happy about our current options to conduct volunteer work in Kenya, Nepal, Philippines, India, Guatemala and Madagascar. Furthermore, we are constantly anxious to extend our current networks.
The task of the Preparation Team, chaired by Davina Krumbolz, is to organize a Preparation Track for the volunteering students. Its purpose is to ensure that the students are best prepared to live and work in a developing country and to fulfill the tasks assigned to them by their respective NGO. Therefore the Preparation Team provides Lecture Series, Language Courses, as well as different Workshops for the volunteers.
To also support our NGOs financially, the Fundraising and Charity Team was founded. Chaired by Davina Krumbholz, it will organize fundraising activities, such as the UNSA Charity Ball. The collected money will be donated to our partner NGOs.
